Training on Advanced Excel and Mobile Data collection using KoBo

About the training

ICT tools such as mobile devices and software that allow users to create surveys, collect, manage and upload data to storage facilities in real-time have reduced the conventional challenges associated with remote data collection. One of the commonly used tools is KoBoToolbox. KoBoToolbox has been used to observe elections, monitor rainforests, track outbreaks, conduct one-off surveys, rapid assessments, baseline studies, project mid-term evaluation, project end-term evaluation, market research, during and directly following disasters and in many other cases. On other hand, Advanced Microsoft Office Excel gives you the ability to use its more sophisticated tools, which will allow you to complete your tasks and analyze your data more quickly. It will also allow you to keep team members up-to-date on data, which can streamline the workflow process

What will be covered in this training?

This training is a hands-on, step by step guide that will teach trainees how to setup, administer and manage a mobile based data collection platform using KoBoToolbox, and provide essentials skills on advanced MS Excel formula that are critical to data analysis and handling complex spreadsheet.

The training will focus on the following:

  • Setup, administer, and manage a mobile-based data collection platform using KoBoToolBox
  • Receive advanced Excel spreadsheet training
  • Create sophisticated outputs for financial analysis, including beautiful tables, charts, and graphs
  • Excel Macros

The main functions and formulae to be covered in this training include:

  • INDEX and MATCH
  • IF with AND / OR
  • OFFSET combined with other functions
  • CHOOSE for creating scenarios
  • INDIRECT combined with other functions
  • XNPV and XIRR
  • CELL, COUNTA and MID functions combined together
  • PMT, IPMT and principal payment calculations

The main types of data analysis in this advanced training include:

  • Data tables
  • Pivot tables
  • Column and line charts
  • Stacked column charts
  • Waterfall charts
  • Gauge charts

Who should attend this training?

This is a hands-on training for anyone who wishes to learn how to set up a mobile-based system to collect, manage, analyze and map data; and learn how to use Excel to handle high-volume and complex datasets.

Training fees

The fees structure of this training is organized as follow:

  1. Undergraduate students: university students currently pursuing their undergraduate studies will pay Rwf 5,000.0
  2. University graduate: those who graduated from university will bey Rwf 10,000.0

How will training take?

The training will take 5 days and will be completely online. A join link and passcode will be shared to those who will have paid before the start of training. Everyone is supposed to have his/her own computer.

Note:

Please note the following:

  • The training is limited to only 30 participants
  • Only selected candidates will contacted to attend the training
  • The training fees will be paid before the training start
  • Certificates will be awarded to the participants who will get atleast 75% points in assignments that will be provided
  • The training timeline is as follows:
    1. Jan 24 - Feb 17, 2021: Registration
    2. Feb 18, 2021: Screening and notification to selected candidates
    3. Feb 19 - Feb 21, 2021: Payment of training fees to selected participants
    4. Feb 22 - Feb 26, 2021: Training
    5. Feb 28, 2021: Refreshment training for participants who will miss some sessions
    6. Feb 28, 2021: Certification
